Polio:

At the age of 10, Michael Farmer fell ill to polio and was completely paralyzed.  Doctor's did not think Michael would ever walk again.  Michael underwent intense physical therapy and slowly regained use of his fine motor skills. It was a long and slow process but Michael became strong enough to maneuver a wheelchair and eventually was fitted for leg braces.  Through hard work, determination, and a positive attitude, Michael built up the undamaged muscle tissue in his legs and learned to walk again. However, he walked with a slight limp and dragged his right foot.
